As a South African company in Africa with a conscience, we are proud to make a contribution to general health on the continent. Scabies treatment in the western world has made progress during the last fifteen years but not in Africa where treatment has remained the same for more than 50 years. Skabi-Rid puts Africa on par with the preferred treatments in the USA as well as Europe.
TomarMed (Pty) Ltd
TomarMed (Pty) Ltd, a private company, commissioned a clinical trial on the treatment of scabies with the use of permethrin as active ingredient. In the third world treatment for scabies has stayed unchanged during the last fifty years and little progress had been made during this time, especially where it is most needed.
As the first of its kind in South Africa, a clinical trial was designed, and conducted to prove that existing treatments are inferior to the more recently developed permethrin based applications. The successful trial led to the marketing of Skabi-Rid in Africa - the first permethrin only based scabicide in South Africa.
